Academic
Communication
My freshman year of high school, I completed a Persuasive writing
paper in my ELA 9 class. I used skills involving good responsiveness to a
counter argument. I gave my opinion in a respectful manner but a very
strong-willed description, showing a proper way to distribute my opinions, by
communicating this way. My opinion was on school administrators monitoring their student’s social networking pages; I agree that it is an acceptable thing to do, for the school’s reputations sake.
Mathmatics
Chap 1 test Geometry My freshman year of high school completed
the very first geometry test of the year and passed with a 71%. being a
mathematically challenged
individual, I was relatively proud of my grade, prior to this, I
struggled a lot with mathematics,
but this is proving I can do whatever I put my mind to,
regardless of the situation.
Science and Technology
In Biology class my sophomore year of high school, I was given 2 partners to dissect a Mussel. We worked together and used our prior knowledge of what we have learned in the class to answer the questions given on the exhibit.. We all gave points of view to better our exhibit.
Problem Solving
Algebra C multiple choice quiz. I took this quiz, without a very grear knowlege of Bisects, and point slope formula, but got a 100% by using proir knowlege and the process of elimination.
Personal Management
Responsibility
Lions football youth camp
coach and American Red Cross
The summer of my Senior year I was asked by my football coaches to assist at a
youth camp for young kids wanting to learn the game of football. I was glad to
attend and show the importance of responsibility to mentees of mine. If they
see that a leader of theirs makes good decisions ,that will persuade them to
do so as well. I coached them and spent time with them. and taught them the
fundamentals of football. In addition to teaching them the fundamentals of
football, by my example they learned about leadership and good decision
making. Also, on my 17th birthday I celebrated by going to a Red Cross blood drive. I donated my first pint of blood and I plan to continue donating regularly in the future.
Organization
Personal time and space because of my busy
school, sports, and social schedules, I have found it very beneficial to maintain an organized, tidy
personal space. By keeping items neatly in their place,
I waste less time and am able to maintain my high standard of punctuality.
Flexibility and Initiative
Sports, community and school,.
Throughout my high school career I’ve faced many physical injuries and medical issues. I’ve had multiple surgeries, which has been a challenge both physically and emotionally. I’ve gone through months and months of physical therapy which required flexibility. Instead of missing school, I chose
to get up at 5:30 a.m., for these physical therapy sessions, driving 25 miles round trip. By re-arranging my morning schedule, I was able to maintain my studies and support Grass Lake sports teams, even though I was unable to participate in those sports. As a member of the “Grass Lake Football leadership Council” since 2011. Many of our meetings and activities were held during the evening hours. I have also overcome great obstacles in order to play on an out-of-town rugby team. Doing this required sheer determination in arranging transportation for the hour-plus round trip.
Career Development
Military studies
Sometime after high school, I do plan on joining the United State Marine Corps or the United States
Navy. I have talked to recruiters and discussed my plans numerous times ever since my freshmen year. I’ve taken trips to Washington D.C., and visited the nearby Marine Corps museum. I’ve had the privilege of meeting several members of the military thru my step- father who is a Captain in the Navy. Through my step-father I have learned about military requirements and what to expect once enlisted.
Teamwork
Communicating
Football mission statement
my junior year, going into senior year, I was called upon my footballteam to better our community in the name of Grass Lake Football and help organizing the Grass Lake Football leadership council, I worked with some other teammates and my coaches to come up with a mission statement describing our goals and expectations. This was helping people realize what our football team is about and how we our imaged off the field. Telling them we are smart, well-mannered young men.
Responsiveness
Death of uncle Ed Anderson
During the summer of my junior year, a close family member died and I had to step up and tend to my mother during her time of grief. When she left for the
out-of-state funeral, I was left to take care of the house, keeping the dog fed, and doing household chores that my mother usually would do. Afterword, helping my mother get though the time of grief was a challenge; it all came very quick and I needed to step up, be mature and help her get through the emotional pain.
Membership
Football
I’ve been
a part of the Grass Lake High School Football since 9th grade. My Sophomore, Junior and Senior year, I was selected as a team captain due to my persurvance and dedication to bettering my team and myself.
Contributing
Football Award
My junior year, I received an award for Scout Team
Player of the year from my coaches. I received this award because of my hard work and selflessness. I put the team before myself, making sure that they were benefited before I was.
